Principle

PRINCIPLE

  • When sensitized lymphocytes are activated by antigen, they produce soluble mediator called lymphokines.
  • One of these mediators inhibits migration of leukocytes.
  • The inhibition of leukocytes migration by lymphokines produced by activated lymphocytes showed approximate correlation with cell mediated immune response.
  • Using these criteria, the test has been used to study the immune response against many viral diseases.
