Lymphocyte stimulation test

PRINCIPLE 

• Peripheral blood lymphocytes on incubation with mitogen (Con A or PHA) or specific antigen like viral, bacterial or test antigen, result into the proliferation of the cells when incubated at 37º C for 72 hours at 5% CO₂ tension. 
• Higher stimulation index of the cell proliferation indicates better cell mediated immune response.
