Except for calcium, phosphorous, sodium chloride ( which are needed in greater quantity) other minerals should not be added to the ration unless it is known or suspected that there is a deficiency. This will not only save money, but also prevent the problems arising from excess feeding of these minerals.

Trace mineralised salts when properly forumulated, are useful in some cases. The best way to provide minerals is to mix, it well with the concentrate ration.
