INTRODUCTION

• Prescription is a written order to a pharmacist for the dispensing of certain drugs in certain amounts, giving directions as to compounding and administration.
• Prescription is written by a veterinarian / physician or dentist. It is legally recognized document and the writer is held responsible for its accuracy.
• The following are parts of a classical prescription:
  • Date of writing the prescription
  • Identity of the patient and address of the owner.
  • Superscription 
  • Inscription
  • Subscription
  • Signature
  • Initials of the physician / veterinarian
