Irradiation preservation of fish

IRRADIATION OF FISH

  • Fish and fishery products can be preserved by irradiation. Radiation pasteurization or radurisation at doses of 0.3 -0.5 M rad or less can provide extension of shelf life without detectable undesirable changes. Irradiation kills a large proportion of bacteria which causes spoilage.
