INTRODUCTION

  • Harvesting refers to the processes of capturing fishes either from the culture systems or from the wild. In the fish culture systems, partial or complete harvesting may be done based on the need and marketability. Partial or continuous harvesting of fishes involve production of fishes for the period of three or more years by harvesting marketable fishes every few weeks and restocking with replacement of fingerlings a few times a year. Complete harvesting is done at the end of the culture period by harvesting all the fishes in the production systems.
