HISTOPATHOLOGICAL CHANGES DUE TO BACTERIAL PATHOGENS IN SHRIMP

Bacterial disease

Histopathological changes

Vibriosis

Multifocal melanized and/or non-melanized hemocytic nodules with spectic centres. Nodules present throughout the shrimp body in the hemocoel spaces and in the loose connective tissues.

NHP (Necrotizing Hepatopancreatitis)

Hepatopancreatic atophy, granulomatous lesions and the presence of massive numbers of very small, intracellular, gram negative bacteria in HP tubule epithelial cells.

Rickettsial infections

Showing ricketsial–like bacteria in the cytoplasm of infected cells.

Mycobacteriosis

Lesions consist of multifocal, usually heavily melanized, hemocytic nodules or larger granulomatous lesions. Palely basophilic rod shaped bacteria may be evident in, or associated with, the hemolytic nodules.
