ABYSSINIAN

  • It is one of the oldest known breed of domestic cat and believed to be originate from Egyptian or Ethiopia.
  • Two of these cats are said to have been found in Ethiopia (formerly Abyssinia) and brought to England in the middle of 1800s.
  • However, others say that the breed was result of International breeding programme in great Britain.
  • Abyssinian refers to a ticked color patter that is caused by dominant allele of the Tabby gene.
  • This colour patter is similar to a large south American rodent “agouti”.
  • They are medium sized, slender animal wit light bone.
  • Their head is slightly rounded wedge with no flat planes.
  • They posses large expressive ears and almond shaped eyes.
  • Abyssinian cats are very agile, inquisitive, very social and are highly affectionate.
