Diurnal variation of surface salinity

Diurnal variation of surface salinity

Diurnal variations of surface salinity are very small in the open ocean, since there are no significant diurnal variations in respect to precipitation and evaporation in the open oceans. Even in the Arabian Sea coastal waters off Karwar, the diurnal variation of surface salinity is very small throughout the year. The maximum diurnal variation of surface salinity in these waters is found to be about (0.21 ppt).
