Recruiting: Once the job descriptions are ready, the major hiring process begins. Each center needs to establish and follow some general procedures regarding advertising, interviewing and selecting employees.
Interviewing: Interviews provide the insight into the candidates that cannot be assessed from written applications or resumes. The person or group responsible for staffing will decide who will interview the candidates and must develop the plans for the interview. Appointments are made for the most promising candidates, those meeting all the requirements listed in the job specification. The committee meets to interview the candidates.
The main objective of interview is
To get the applicant to talk about previous experiences
About the knowledge of job at hand
Teacher’s knowledge of the philosophy of disciplining children and organizing classrooms.
As a part of interview some hypothetical situations appropriate to the job can be posed.
On job orienting: The director is responsible for orienting the new employee. A tour of the building and introductions to all other staff members either during the tour or in a staff meeting shortly thereafter are essential to the orientation procedure.
The new employee also should be introduced to the parents at the earliest possible time. Some directors notify parents of staff additions or changes by mail, others use their bulletin boards or newsletters and still others introduce the new member informally as the occasion arises or at a regular scheduled meeting.
The new person will need to know
Where to find work space
What storage facilities and material are available
What schedule is to be followed
