Director’s role in staffing

In choosing the staff to implement the goals outlined for center, the responsibility of a director includes:

  1. Locating the people who can best perform the required tasks.
  2. Encouraging creative performance and co-operative effort.
  3. Removing any road blocks hindering success.
  4. Monitoring performance to assure high quality service that parents, children and society deserve.

Job Description: A clear definition of the role of each staff member should be given. Each role requires a thorough description. Well defined job descriptions provide a frame work within which an individual can creatively carry out the tasks required for the programme. Job descriptions should be viewed regularly to determine whether changes are necessary.

Job descriptions usually include the following

  • Job title
  • Person to whom responsible
  • People for whom responsible
  • Qualifications (education, experience, personal health, physical abilities etc.)
  • Duties and responsibilities
  • Salary schedule
  • Work schedule
