Motivation – meaning

The term motivation has been derived from the word “motive”. Motive may be defined as a state of mind that moves or activates and directs over behaviour towards goal. Motives are expressions of a person’s goals or needs. They give directions to human behaviour to achieve goals or fulfill needs; motives arouse and energize a person’s activities.

Motivation may be defined as a process of stimulating someone to adopt a desired course of action.
