Writing news stories is not particularly difficult. It does not require practice and not everyone will be an expert But. If the reporter follows the guidelines below it will be effective.
The five w s and the “H”:
Who?
What?
Where?
When?
Why?
How?
For example, if he wishes to cover a story about a local sports team entering a competition he needs to answer these questions:
*who is the team? Who is the coach? Who are the prominent players? Who are the supporters?
*what sports do they play? What is the competition?
*where is the competition?
*when is the competition?
*why are they entering this particular competition?
