Head lines

Definition
Headlines or heads as they are called are the display windows of newspaper. They have the kind of relationship with the news story as form has with content.

Headlines are any line or collection of lines of display type/font that precede and summarize a story. They are different from picture captions. Label headlines are not headlines in a strict sense of the term. They are called binders, like text of agreement.

Headlines are an advertisement for the story. A good headline will reach out and attract the reader. When it is bright, informative, clear and accurate, the readers are hooked. They read on, that the basic objective behind headlining of journalistic profession for advertisers pressures and public lobbying-responsibility to reader reliable information, entertaining presentation, and enlightenment.
