Commercial Interior Design has gone up through significant changes over the past few years. The Design styles differ greatly on individual tastes, the company business and its corporate image. But vastly is more dictated by the functionality. The range is endless, be it a restaurant or a diagnostics, a boutique or a showroom, an office or an institution. With the introduction of new technology, this field also needs a vast technical knowledge of the latest systems and equipment to be incorporated in the design.
Designers specializing in entertainment work on movies, television, theaters, clubs, theme park, and arena projects. Commercial designers focused on governmental projects work on schools, fire and police stations, libraries, courts, museums, public transportation terminals and other government buildings. Health Care design specialists design hospitals, nursing homes, examination rooms and waiting rooms. Focusing on hospitality and luxury, some commercial designers work on bars, restaurants, hotels, country clubs, cruise ships, and major conference areas.
Commercial designers evolve open or closed office space and workspaces that are fully utilized but that also create a productive and appealing work environment. There are also designers concentrated on retail and store design. This group of commercial designers works on shopping malls, department stores, boutiques, and any other retail venues. Commercial, sometimes also referred to as contract, design focuses on the design, professional design team coordination, planning, budgeting, specifying/purchasing and furnishings installation of interior environments used for commercial, government or educational purposes. Commercial Interiors consist of adapting working areas created by the architect to the fundamental functional, aesthetic or symbolic needs of its owners The scope of choice in everyday product from seating to lighting, tiles to files, modular to customized is immense. Thus the design development in this areas is much more complicated and demanding. A lot more sophistication in conceiving, presentation and implementation is required.
