Lesson 5 : Basic Hand Stitches

Introduction

Skillfully made hand stitches are a symbol of quality in garment construction. For a beginner, knowledge on hand sewing techniques helps in producing a better quality product. To work hand sewing quickly and perfectly, one needs practice but learning the basic procedures helps to develop desired skills. The basic hand stitches can be divided into temporary and permanent hand stitches. Fig 6.1
