Lesson 5 : Basic Hand Stitches

Over handing

This stitch appears straight on the right side and slanting on the wrong side of the fabric. It is worked on folded edges with the seam allowances pressed to the wrong side and with the right sides facing each other. While working this stitch, the hand needle is held at 45o angle to the folded edges. This stitch is also used to finish the edges to which a lace, patch etc are later attached.
