5.2.4 Control of viral infections
Antivral agents are drugs that are administered for therapeutic purposes to humans with viral diseases. Antiviral agents used to treat viral diseases are currently limited and available for the management of only a few viral diseases. Some of the drags available are: Disease / agent - Therapeutics against the infectious virus. 1. Herpes virus infections - Acyclovir and Valaciclovir 2. Respiratory viral infections - Amantadive, Ribavirin 3. Hepatitis and Papilloma virus - Interferous 4. Retroviral infections - Reverse Transcriptase inhibiters and protease inhibitors. |
