Manures and fertilisers
- The manure are applied in 2 doses, one in June-July and the other in September-October. In the first year for plantations with irrigation facility, a dose of 37.5 kg N, 37.5 kg P205 and 75 kg K20 per hectare is applied in two equal splits.
- The quantity of fertilisers to be applied is doubled from the second year onwards (75:75:150 kg NPK/ha).
- A fertiliser dose of 120:120:240 kg NPK per hectare for high density (5000 plants/ha) planting is recommended for Karnataka.
- In addition, the application of well-decomposed FYM or leaf mould @ 10 kg and neem cake @ 1 kg per plant, prior to the application of fertiliser, during May is recommended.
- The fertiliser recommendation for rain- fed plantations is 30:60:30 kg NPK per hectare.
- The fertilisers are applied in a circular band of 20 cm width and 30-40 cm away from the base of the clumps and incorporated into the soil.
- During the first year of planting, one kilogram of lime is also mixed with soil at a depth of 30 cm per pit.
