DISINFECTION - AN INTRODUCTION 

  • Prevention of nosocomial infection begins with the hospital layout which requires careful planning. The disinfection is based on the hospital plan, patient attendance, p articular patients especially those in isolation areas and surgical suites.
  • It is necessary to prevent, contain and eliminate the spread of disease by controlling the pathogens that get entry into the hospital premises. Prevention is better, so applying disinfection procedures will be economical. Choice of disinfection protocols varies depending on situations as each disease has to be addressed in a different way. No single disinfectant is effective for all .What ever it may be through washing and cleaning is to be done prior to disinfection procedure. Very important is training of personnel of the proper procedures to use and safety issues
