Importance of Wholegrain Cereals

  1. In the era of fast life, rapid urbanization and convenience and criterion for health. The breakfast cereals have become very important.
  2. Whole grain cereals viz brown rice, whole wheat, oats and rye taste great and also have a potential health benefits.
  3. Whole grain cereals reduce the risk of CHD and certain cancers up to 30%. specially colon cancer.
  4. Whole grain cereals are rich source of fermentable carbohydrates which are converted by intestinal flora into short chain fatty acids, these acids reduce the cancer causing factors.
  5. Whole grain fibers increase the fecal bulk and bind carcinogens which can be removed from bowel.
  6. Refining cereals results in significant loss of nutrients and other protective substances.
  7. Daily consumption of breakfast cereals is associated with lower cortisol levels and less stress.
