Hygiene Of Food Handlers

  • Food handlers, should be subjected to complete medical examination to rule out any infections.
  • They should be thoroughly examined before employing in eating establishments
  • Any person with history of communicable diseases like typhoid fever, diphtheria, chronic dysentery, tuberculosis etc should not be employed.
  • Their health should be appraised on day to day basis.
  • All health problems in food handlers are to be notified.
  • Food handlers should be emphasized the importance of hand washing, trimming finger nails regularly, keeping their clothes and hair clean, etc.
  • Also while preparing food; they should avoid coughing, sneezing, licking fingers, cleaning nose or smoking in the cooking areas. They must use clean kitchen napkins.
