Crayon rubbings

Crayon rubbing is a technique that young preschool children can easily master. To make a crayon rubbing, the child puts a piece of paper over a textured surface, and rubs the sides of a crayon over the paper. The crayon picks up the texture on the paper in a design. Some textured surfaces that can be used are designed food trays, bark, leaves, bricks and corrugated cardboard. This is a good activity for developing both large and small muscles.
