Lesson 12 : Developmental Levels in Art in Children

Art activities for young preschoolers (2-4 years)

The teacher must, first of all, plan activities that appeal to the interests of the young pre-schooler. Simple, basic art activities are of most interest to the child at this age group. Second, the teacher must be prepared to accept the activity may hold the child’s interest for only a short time. It helps to remember that a period of time that seems short to an adult may be quite long to the young preschool child. Finally alternative and extra activities should be available for those children who may not be interested in the first activity planned.
