Inconsistent Performance in unfamiliar environment

Infants frequently show unfavourable reactions to strange situations/environments. If the child is given more opportunities, he gets adjusted/adapted to the environment and may give reliable and valid responses if assessment is done outside the home setting.


General guidelines for assessing infants, toddlers, preschoolers:

To achieve reliable and valid test results two important steps include
  • Knowledge of the examiner on the child characteristics pertinent to test setting
  • Power of the examiner as a modifying agent of child’s behavior.
