Special considerations in assessing infants & Toddlers

The testing of infants, toddlers and preschoolers can be gratifying and enjoyable experience. It also presents a number of challenges not encountered in the evaluation of older children. The four behavioural characteristics of infants, toddlers and preschoolers which make assessment challenging include

    1. Activity level/distractibility

    2. Variable states / attention span

    3. Wariness of strangers

    4. Inconsistent Performance in unfamiliar environment
