Flexibility

It is the important examiner character for obtaining reliable and valid results. Flexibility is important in varying contexts like
  • Scheduling considerations: It refers to the extended warm up period for the child to become acclimated to the examiner and the testing environment.
  • Data collection: collecting data regarding the abilities of the child through parents, clinicians if the desired behavior can not be elicited during testing.
  • Make allowances for individual child needs in testing.: Based on the child’s attention, interest and motivation, when interacting with the child, the examiner must be alert to the needs to
    • Vary the rate of item presentation
    • Alter the type of activity being administered
    • Giving immediate reinforcement
    • Set limits
