Lesson 27 : Role and Responsibilities of Child Care Center entrepreneur

Introduction

An effective entrepreneur is a person who combines skills, knowledge and caring. His/her job includes all aspects of programme and people maintenance. To perform all the duties he/she must have necessary skills and knowledge, stamina, understanding, organization and good interpersonal skills.

Administrative styles and roles:
The administrative styles are different and unique and influence the outcome of their programmes. The outcomes are different due to roles assigned to directors and also due to the director’s personality, knowledge and skill levels and attitudes.

Director’s Roles:
The roles of directors include

  1. Teaching (in some cases).
  2. Never teach but are responsible for several centers.
  3. Travel between the centers and keeping abreast of two or more sets of circumstances, staff members, children, equipment list and so forth.
  4. Responsible for taking policy decisions.
  5. Responsible for record keeping, supervising, answering of telephones, meal preparation.
  6. Work with half a day, full day program or 24 hour care programme.
  7. The programme may offer care for infants and toddlers or for older children both before and after school.
