Programme Maintenance

The tasks included under program maintenance are:

  • Developing goals and objectives in relation to the center’s philosophy, placing emphasis on the needs of the clients.
  • Work with staff to plan a curriculum to meet the objectives of the center.
  • Develop a positive working relationship with the board of directors and its committees placing emphasis on communicating the center’s accomplishments and needs to the board.
  • Establish policies for center operation or become familiar with the policies established by the center board, board of education.
  • Draw up procedures for implementation of policies.
  • Prepare and maintain a manual for board and staff members.
  • Work with licensing agents to meet applicable licensing regulations.
  • Provide adequate insurance coverage.
  • Comply with all local, state and central laws relating to the center’s operation.
  • Establish and operate with in a workable budget.
  • Keep accurate financial records.
  • Pay bills and prepare pay roll.
  • Collect tuition fee.
  • Write proposals and seek other funds for operation of the center.
  • Locate and maintain suitable physical facilitates for the center’s programme.
  • Order and maintain equipment
  • Publicize the center.
  • Enroll and group the children.
  • Employ appropriate staff.
  • Orient staff.
  • Coach staff.
  • Evaluate the programme, staff members and the children’s progress.
  • Develop an effective communication system among staff members through regular staff meetings, conferences, and informal conversations.
  • Provide in service training for staff and volunteers.
  • Fill roles of other staff members in emergency situations.
  • Plan and implement a parent programme that is responsive to parents needs and interests.
  • Explain the center’s programme to the community.
  • Participate in professional organizations.
  • Continue professional development through reading, and attending pertinent courses such as workshops, conferences and lectures.
