Material required: Rectangular sponge bock, Satin or ordinary ribbons, Red and black velvet paper, Rubber bands.
Procedure:
- Put a rubber band to one-fourth portion of the sponge to demarcate the head position.
- To the corner of the head portion, put rubber bands to demarcate the ears.
- Around the rubber band used to demarcate the head, tie a satin ribbon to form bow.
- Cut small portions of black velvet paper for the eyes and paste them.
- Similarly, cut portion of the red paper to form the nose and mouth.
Uses:
- Helps in tactile stimulation
- Useful for social and emotional development Helps in visual stimulation
- It helps in language stimulation
- It helps in improving the movements of the fingers and improves gripping (used for finger exercises) and palmer grasp.
Variations:
- Similar toys can be made from clay, dough, cotton silk or thermocole.
- Sponge can be used to make different animals.
