Joining bias

Bias strips can be joined or pieced together to form a long strip. The following steps are helpful in joining the bias strips:

  • Place the bias strips at right angles with the right sides together, cut off the ends of the strips along the line shown in Figure 1.
  • Machine stitch along the diagonal of the square formed. (Figure 2)
  • Cut away excess material from the stitched line along the broken line. (Figure 3)
  • Open up the strips and continue attaching to form longer strips.
