Lesson 25 : Decisions Linkages

Introduction

Decision making is a continual and on-going process. As one decision is made, another follows, and then still another. Although there are several methods to illustrate how one decision is linked to another, only three will be discussed here. Decisions can be linked together in a single chaining, as a CentralĀ Satellite decision, or to form a decision tree.

Decisions may be linked together in that each decision is related to those that follow by a common bond or pattern. When this occurs, decisions are said to form a single chain. On the other hand, although decisions themselves are not related to each other, they center around a critical or central decision. Plonk calls this linking of decisions a Central-Satellite decision model.25 DeĀcision making is choosing among alternatives; the decisions made then form a pattern. As the alternatives and the decisions made branch outward, one from another, a decision tree is formed.
