Lesson 28: Dyeing Methods

Fiber dyeing

When fiber is dyed even before it is spun into a yarn it is called fiber dyeing or stock dyeing. Loose fiber is placed in bales or big drums and dye is circulated until the desired shade of colour is obtained. Different coloured fibers can later be mixed up or one single colour can be added to the undyed fiber and spun into yarns. These yarns when woven into cloth have specks of colour giving a decorative effect.
