  • Dorsal fin and anal fin continuous around tail
  • Dorsal fin begins more or less above gill opening and originates before pectoral fin tip
  • No pelvic fins
  • No scales
  • Supratemporal pore in front of dorsal fin

·   Robust body without scales.

·         Lateral line complete

·         Mouth not extending beyond eye

·         Teeth well developed but no canines in jaw

·          Lower jaw equal to or shorter than the upper jaw.

·         Vertebrae 205 to 225.
