3.3.9.3.1 Gobiidae-gobies
The pelvic fins are united and forming an adhersive or sucking dics. First dorsal spinous and seperated from second. Five branchiostegal rays. They live in close association with other animals like sponges and sea urchins This family contains world smallest fishes. The marine goby Trimmatom nanus female measures 8-10 mm. The freshwater counter part Pandaka pygmaea and Mistichthys luzonensis measure upto 10-11mm. It is most species rich family of vetebrates. |
