ANIMAL PROTEIN CONCENTRATES

Animal protein concentrates are included only upto 15% in the ration. They are included mainly to makeup the deficiency in essential amino acids content. Animal protein concentrates are expensive. While feeding animal protein concentrates, care should be taken to prevent spread of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (Mad Cow Disease) in cattle and Scrapie in sheep and goat. Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) and Scrapie are caused by misfolded protein (prion) present in bovine tissues and transmitted by feeding protein of bovine origin to cattle / sheep and goat. Animal protein concentrates should be free from pathogens like salmonella and E.coli. Protein supplements from animal origin are Fish meal, Meat meal, Blood meal, Hatchery waste, Milk products.

Included only upto 15% to makeup deficiency in EAA, Expensive. Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (Mad Cow Disease) in cattle Scrapie in sheep & goat.
