  • Animal protein concentrates are included only upto 15% in the ration.
  • They are included mainly to makeup the deficiency in essential amino acids content.
  • Animal protein concentrates are expensive.
  • While feeding animal protein concentrates, care should be taken to prevent spread of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (Mad Cow Disease) in cattle and Scrapie in sheep and goat.
  • Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) and Scrapie are caused by misfolded protein (prion) present in bovine tissues and transmitted by feeding protein of bovine origin to cattle / sheep and goat.
  • Animal protein concentrates should be free from pathogens like salmonella and E.coli.
  • Included only upto 15% to makeup deficiency in EAA, Expensive.
  • Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (Mad Cow Disease) in cattle Scrapie in sheep & goat.
  • Misfolded protein (prion) transmitted by feeding protein of bovine origin to cattle / sheep and goat.
  • Should be free from pathogens like salmonella and E.coli.
