SEASON

  • North East monsoon: This refers to the months of October, November and December. This is also called as retreating monsoon season. About 50% of the total annual rainfall is received during this season, in Tamil Nadu 
  • South West monsoon: This starts in June and ends in August/September. This is known as advancing monsoon season. During this period, about 30% of the total annual rainfall is received in Tamil Nadu.
  • Winter season: This season falls during January and Ferbruary months and only about 6% of the total annual rainfall is received during this season.
  • Summer season: Summer season comprising of March, April and May months, will receive about 14% of the total annual rainfall .
