SECONDARY IMMUNODEFICIENCY

  • Immunodeficiencies included by some known cause are not uncommon in domestic animals.
  • The most important cause of immunosuppression are viral infections. In order to survive within a host, viruses may cause profound immunodeficiency either by infecting and killing lymphocytes or by causing them to become cancerous.
  • Other major causes of immunodeficiencies include stress, malnutritions, mycotoxins and old age etc.
