CAPILLARIASIS IN COCKATOO

  • The Eggs are more (or) less barrel shaped with fine bipolar plugs resembling Trichuris eggs. These worms are commonly called as ' Thread worms ' and are frequently found in newly imported macaws and in aviaries.
  • Further they have been encountered in wild passerines. Depending on the species the lifecycle is direct (or) indirect involving earthworm as intermediate host.
