HAEMAPHYSALIS SP. IN MONGOOSE

  • Ticks of this small genus inhabit humid and well vegetated habitats in tropical countries. These are three host ticks with larvae and nymphs feeding on small mammals / birds, while adults infesting larger mammals.
  • The males of these ticks lack chitinous plates. They have a wide host range affecting birds and mammals, including the rodents. They have a short rectangular mouth parts.
