MERITS AND DEMERITS

Merits

• The test should be used as a flock test.
• This test is used for preliminary screening of diseases like Salmonellosis, Brucellosis and Mycoplasma infection in a flock or herd.
• It is qualitative test.
• It is simpler and easily readable than the precipitation test.
• Slide agglutination is a rapid and convenient method for determining the presence of agglutinating antibodies

Demerits

• It is not suitable where the mixture of organisms and serum has to be incubated.
