Unison Feed

APPAREL MANUFACTURING – II 3(3+0)

Lesson 48 : Feed Mechanism

Unison Feed

It is a further combination of feeding mechanisms which provide needle feed in addition to positive top and bottom feeding. Its applications are limited since, once needle feed is included in the system, it removes any opportunities for adjusting the amount of feeding in the top and bottom plies by means of separate upper and under feeds. However it is valuable in the sewing of certain problem materials, especially those with tacky surfaces, used for seam joining and edge binding.

This feed system controls the feeding of the upper and lower plies of the materials being sewn using independent upper and lower feed dogs. Differential feed may also be incorporated depending on the machine type.
