The clones are sometimes not strictly identical since the somatic cells may contain mutations in their nuclear DNA. Also, the mitochondrial DNA from the donor egg interferes and the mitochondrial genome will not be the same as that of the nucleus donor cell in the clone. This leads to cross-species nuclear transfer and results in nuclear-mitochondrial incompatibilities.
