Cell culture techniques has got various applications

Tissue culture and engineering:

Cell culture is essential for tissue culture and tissue engineering. The major application of human cell culture is in stem cell industry where mesenchymal stem cells are cultured and cryopreserved for future use.

Vaccines: Cell cultures are used for the production of vaccines for polio, measles, mumps, rubella and chicken pox. Recombinant DNA-based vaccines, such as human adenovirus are some of the recent developments.

Viral culture methods:

Culture of viruses require the culture of cells of mammalian, plant, fungal or bacterial origin as hosts. Whole wild type viruses, recombinant viruses or viral products may be generated in cell types other than their natural hosts under the right conditions.
