Ratio and proportion

The ratio and proportion of a composition play an important part in indicating the key areas in the frame. Remember Leonardo Da Vinci's Divine Proportion? It uses the principle called the golden section (see Fig. 1.5), which ancient Greeks based their works of art on, whereby the objects painted had re­markable geometrical properties. According to this principle, the human body is a perfect ex­ample of ratio and proportion.
