Lesson 02: Visual Grammar

Colour

Colour plays such an important role in the composition of an image that when seen in monochrome (black and white, in common parlance), the image looks completely different from when it is in colour. In fact, colour has the capacity to change the quality and meaning of an im¬age. Colour can also contribute to the mood and establish atmosphere. The impact of the colour of a figure is governed by the light and other colours in the ground.
