Tripods

The tripod is a three-legged device for supporting the camera, see Fig. 2.12(a). Mounted on top of the three legs is a tripod head-a device with a handle that allows the camera to pivot smoothly-onto which the camera is secured with a mounting screw. The adjustable legs allow for the tripod to be levelled on uneven surfaces, and the camera can be raised from 2 to 6 feet above ground to slightly above the eye level. A spreader is used to lend stability to the tripod and also reduce the height where re-quired, see Fig. 2.12(b).
