    Propagation
  • Saffron is propagated vegetatively by using the underground corms. The corms selected for planting should be 2 to 5 cm in diameter. Each mother corm produces about 2 to 6 cormlets. Saffron undergoes deep dormancy from mid-June to August. The new cormlets produced annually remain attached to the mother corms till the beginning of the dormancy period.
