Lesson 21: Outdoor play activities in ECE center

Preparation

1. Decide the kind of play.
   
2. Assemble additional equipment and accessories.
   
3. Aprons, sponges and other containers must also be kept handy.
   
4. Keep the weather conditions in mind before planning.

Procedure

1. Make rules and guidelines clear to the children.
   
2. Involve children in setting out equipment.
   
3. Put on aprons and roll up sleeves.
   
4. Control splashing of water deliberately for long time.
   
5. Talk to children while they are playing.
   
6. Listen to children and encourage conversations.
   
7. Supply excess equipment.

Clear up

1. Let children dry containers by wiping with napkins.
   
2. Replace all equipment in proper place.
   
3. Wipe aprons after play activities.

Suggested materials:

Aprons, things to fill and empty- different sizes of buckets, funnels, jars, floating and sinking toys, magnet fishes, water tub, bottles, measurements, teapots, tubing sponges,sieves, boats etc.
