These are the direct methods employed to reach a specific member of the community. It is the most effective technique of eliciting parental participation as it involves person to person contact, direct verbal conversation. It also helps to build up initial rapport with the parents, necessary for eliciting their effective participation. Home visits, informal talks with parents are examples of individual methods (inviting parents to the school functions, parties etc).
Through individual contacts one can first build up a rapport with the parents, secondly the child’s home environment could be studied. The parents could be informed about the importance of early childhood experiences for their children. They could be slowly encouraged to make a visit to the preschool in order to observe the various activities being implemented for their children and their values. Then slowly, they could be motivated to help or by contributing some material to be used by the children.
